No one thought it was possible, but Chris Moneymaker proved everybody wrong. Being a total amateur he entered a qualifying fee of $40 to play in the World Series of Poker 2003 and hoped for the best. Amazingly enough Moneymaker went on to beat every player he faced, many of them hardened professionals that had paid an entry fee of $10 000. Finally the amateur Chris Moneymaker had become the world champion of poker. The 27-year old accountant secured his victory with a classic fives over fours full house in the last hand and took home the multi million dollar pot.
On this DVD the seven episodes broadcast on ESPN from WSOP 2003 is collected and shown, of course without commercial breaks and other disturbances. It’s a fascinating story of a poker dream shared by many come true, and if you haven’t already seen it, it’s highly recommended.
And yes, Moneymaker is his real name.
